What is the best time of year to fish for steelhead in Washington?
Winter steelhead season typically runs from December through April, with peak runs on the Olympic Peninsula’s rivers. Summer steelhead fishing is also available from June to September. Captain Stephan Pittman knows the best locations for each season.
Do I need a fishing license for my trip?
Yes, all anglers aged 15 and older are required to have a valid Washington State fishing license. We recommend purchasing one online in advance, but we’re happy to assist with any licensing questions before your trip.
What fishing gear is included in the trip?
All trips include high-quality rods, reels, bait, and tackle. Captain Stephan Pittman ensures that all equipment is in top condition, so you can focus on catching fish rather than worrying about gear.
What should I bring on my fishing trip?
We recommend dressing in layers for the weather, wearing waterproof boots, and bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera. You may also want to pack snacks and drinks, though some trips include refreshments.
How many people can join a fishing trip?
We offer full day fishing trips for 2 guests

Where do Pittman Sportfishing trips depart from?
Most of our trips launch from Beacon Avenue in Montesano, WA, but we also operate from various Olympic Peninsula river access points. Exact meeting locations are provided upon booking.
